Poetry and Translation

Ka Mate Ka Ora: A New Zealand Journal of Poetry and Poetics has a new special issue devoted to poetry and translation, which you can read here.

The issue includes translations, commentaries, and essays on translation from a number of poets and translators, working with languages ranging from Italian and Polish to Russian and Chinese, and with writers as diverse as Tibullus and Neruda.

The issue also includes a piece by Cilla McQueen and me on translating Dmitry Golynko.

About Jacob Edmond

Jacob Edmond is associate professor in English at the University of Otago, New Zealand. He is the author of Make It the Same: Poetry in the Age of Global Media (Columbia University Press, 2019), A Common Strangeness: Contemporary Poetry, Cross-Cultural Encounter, Comparative Literature (Fordham University Press, 2012), and of numerous essays, which have appeared in journals such as Comparative Literature, Contemporary Literature, Poetics Today, Slavic Review, and The China Quarterly.
